Watch your manners while in my salon

There are no code of ethics posted on the walls at beauty salons around the nations; however, there are some commonsense practice that we can all apply when we enter a beauty salon, day spa or barbershop. These best practices are in no order of priority.

Tip your stylist, a cash tip of 10%-20% would be ideal, provided the salon doesn’t have a policy against tipping.

All promotions, packages, discounts, gift certificates etc. must be mentioned at the time of booking your appointment or during payment.

Enjoy your gyro and McDonald outside of the salon. It is impolite to speak with your mouth full of food.

Leave your kids with their babysitter.

If you must listen to your music loud – get a better headset than the dollar store version.

You can't make your appointment? – Pick up the phone and call to reschedule or cancel your appointment if you can't make it.

Respect the stylist time. Arrive on time!

No gossiping – or talking about Oprah regarding who she's doing or not doing.

If someone is blocking your way and you would like them to move, say excuse me and they will move out of your way.

It is very good manners to say "please" and "thank you". It is considered rude if you don't.

When yawning or coughing always cover your mouth with your sleeves, tissue or hand (watch your hands regularly).

When you are first introduced to someone, shake their right hand with your right hand – no gloves please!

If you accidentally bump into someone, say 'sorry'. They probably will too, even if it was your fault! This is a habit and can be seen as very amusing by an 'outsider'.

A smiling face is always welcome in most salons.

Men and women should both hold open the door for each other. It depends on who goes through the door first.

Avoid talking loudly in the salon.

It is impolite to stare at anyone in the salon.

Do not pick your nose in public or in the salon. If your nostrils need de-bugging, use a napkin.

Do not burp in public. You may feel better by burping loudly after eating or drinking, but other people will not! If you can not stop a burp from bursting out, then cover your mouth with your hand and say 'excuse me' afterward.

Do not ask personal or intimate questions.
We like our privacy at our salon – please do not ask questions such as "How much money do you earn?" "How much do you weigh?" or "Why aren't you married?"

We like your privacy at our salon – If you bumped into Halle Berry, Charlize Theron or anyone else while at our salon, please don't bother them for autograph.
